Woah, you made it all the way to the “About Me” page? AND you actually care enough to read past the first sentence? (I’m flattered, by the way.) Okay, the pressure is on to write something that isn’t complete garbage, then. Bear with me, dear reader.
So I’m Jamie, and you may or may not have noticed that I design stuff. The stuff that I most enjoy creating, however, is graphic design that conveys a narrative. To just look aesthetically pleasing isn't enough; a successful design, to me, has always meant art with function. The fact that things I create have the potential to inform, emotionally move, and service viewers has always drawn me to design, and having the opportunity to put such things out into the world is nothing short of a dream.
The most pertinent thing I learned in college–even more than those Photoshop tips and tricks–was that I absolutely adore creating authentic, tangible designs. I love throwing myself into the visual research and many rounds of iterations necessary to bring an object to life through design. A design to me never seems as real as when it’s fabricated and in one’s hands. The fact that this principle can be applied to transport one's viewer to another time or place thrills me to no end.
I graduated from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Communication Design and concentrations in Graphic and Advertising Design in 2017 and am currently based in Reading, Pennsylvania.
